On February 25, 2025, we had the incredible honor of attending Georgia Reads Day at the Capitol, where BCDI-Atlanta was recognized as one of the 10 Georgia Reads Community winners! We were thrilled to receive a resolution from the Georgia Senate celebrating our literacy work—a powerful acknowledgment of our impact through our Read to Succeed initiative.
Standing in the historic halls of the Capitol, surrounded by fellow literacy champions and community leaders, felt like a moment to remember. It was a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and how much more we can accomplish when we work together to uplift children and families.
Our Read to Succeed program, created in partnership with United Way of Greater Atlanta, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS), and the Atlanta Speech School's Rollins Center for Language and Literacy, promotes early literacy and language development for families with children from birth to age eight. Our goal is simple yet powerful: to ensure families have home libraries filled with culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate books that inspire and educate.
It was wonderful to share this achievement with our incredible partners who joined us at the Capitol—DECAL, United Way of Greater Atlanta, West Manor Elementary School, and GEEARS. Your support and collaboration make our work possible, and this recognition is a testament to our shared commitment to literacy and equity.
We left Georgia Reads Day feeling inspired and ready to continue our work with even more passion and purpose. We’re excited to continue our work, increase access to books, support our educators, and make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.
Stay tuned for more updates as we build on this momentum. There’s so much more to do, and we couldn’t do it without your support!
