BCDI-Atlanta was honored to participate in MDC’s State of the South event last week. This annual event, known for bringing together changemakers, thought leaders, and community advocates, is a platform for engaging in meaningful conversations about building a more equitable and inclusive South. We delved into critical issues shaping the future of our region, from the role of the arts in advocacy and financial insecurity to the transformative power of policy.
A highlight moment for BCDI-Atlanta was when our Interim President, Tatjyana Elmore, and Coordinator of Programs, Sharon Hudgins-Beck, led a discussion that shed light on the wage and benefit struggles faced by early care and education (ECE) providers—their emphasis on how these inequities directly hinder access to quality early education for Black children. The room was filled with passionate conversations and a shared dedication to driving change, and we were proud to be part of that powerful energy.
This experience reminds us of the importance of collective action in advocating for equitable access to education and resources. As we continue our mission in Atlanta, we carry this event's lessons, inspiration, and connections with us. We are more determined than ever to push for the changes to secure a brighter future for all children.
Together, we can shape a South where every child and family has the opportunity to flourish. Let’s continue to uplift one another and push for the investments needed to help today’s youth thrive for future generations.
Any significant dialogue-conceived piece, like that found in the State of the South, proves the need for clear thought presentation. This says much the same thing as saying that quality is a trait to be fostered in academia; poor work pieces need professional dissertation proofreading services that clean up sentences to make the content more effective. Both in academic and professional forums, effective communication is what counts.
